The Institution of Second Chance Schools has been developed as an effort to combat the social exclusion of adults who have not completed basic education and do not have the necessary qualifications and skills to adapt to modern vocational requirements. Preferably, young people aged between 18 and 40 who have dropped out of school are now able to complete their compulsory 9-year education.
The duration of study is 18 months (two school years) and learners that graduate acquire a certificate
equivalent to the Greek Junior High School (Apolytirio Gymnasium). The curriculum includes education in Greek and English language,
mathematics, science, sociology, environmental awareness, job
orientation, Information and Computer Technology skills and arts. The learners also participate in
various projects and workshops for 3 - 6 months duration per year of relative issues to environmental awareness, fiscal-financial, local culture, heritage, history, informatics, etc. The hours of class per week are 25 and are held in the evening 16:30-20:30.
Our school was established in 2005 and it is situated in a suburban area of the town of Katerini, the main town of prefecture of Pieria, known as a popular tourist destination. Located in northern Greece only about 55Km south of Thessaloniki.
